Better Late Than Never

So my vacation has been awesomely relaxing so far. Didn't even mind taking a break in the middle to go back to work for a day and a half. :) It's been really fun, and I got drunk and took over the Rock Band mic over at my homies Vinny and Nat's place. And in my drunken stupor, I had the revelation to create this little beauty. :P

Long story short, I saw a TON of people this year doing pin up girls. . . and I thought about Christmas and all the sterotypical pin ups that people do and decided I wanted to make an un-anorixic pin up girl, in a tasteful pose wearing something you don't normally see worn by sexy chicks during the holidays. (One of my coworkers also said I'd be fulfilling my furry quota for the year by finishing this. . . so rock on with my bad self.)

Anyway, it's marker and gouache. It's about 11" x 14". It's been cropped a little cause Loki sat on it a couple times with dirty paws and got little smudges on the white spots. Stupid kitty. :P

Oh, and for your viewing pleasure. . . Loki's new hat. I love pissing him off.

Since this is the last day of 2007 I guess it's time for my yearly recap.

Just cause I wanna get the sad stuff over first, on December 1st I had to take Isis, the Kitty Princess of Doom in to be put to sleep. She was just old, older than Carlos and I could have ever realized I guess. Her health was just getting worse instead of better and I couldn't see her suffer any longer. I've never had to do anything like that, and to say it was very hard wouldn't be doing the experience any justice. So anyway, I decided to put up the last photo I took of The Izz. I had just given her a bath and she decided that she had had enough of sunning herself on the balcony, and wanted to come back in. She was my little princess and will be greatly missed.

Back in November, I was lucky enough to go not only home for Thanksgiving for the first time in about 8 years, but one of my close childhood chums planned her wedding to coincide with the Thanksgiving holiday!! Now because I haven't taken enough photo's with my digital camera yet to figure out how to work it right, her wedding pics didn't turn out too great. This pic doen't really caputre how beautiful she looked, but I was so happy to be there and meet her husband and see some of my former teachers and classmates. I just hope that their trip to India for the second ceremony went as wonderully as the ceremony in Seattle did. :)

The rest are just random pics of our Thanksgiving trip; our small, quiet Christmas at home; Carlos' first trip EVER to a pumpkin patch and his first Jack o' Lantern. :D

Happy Holidays!

As usual, things are busy, busy, busy, so I've had to reach into the good ol work grab bag for a holiday themed goodie.

Happy Holidays everyone, and happy New Year as well!

That Time of Year Again

Okay, so once a year, usually around Halloween (I personally blame all the neighbors decorating, and Target's awesome Halloween Decorations) I start getting this inexplicable urge to redo my website. It becomes a TOTAL obsession that completely takes me over.

Anyway, after last year's super simplified website that was far TOO slick for my comfort, and not quite cluttered enough to represent the real me, I've decided to create the virtal victorian haunted mansion of my dreams. . . including an actual vampire for once. . .

Here's a couple of screen grabs of what's hopefully to come around the New Year.

There is still a long way to go, and I'm trying to learn more about layouts and coding. . . it's always a fun challenge. ;)

(P.S. Top image is from work. I was super lucky enough to be given an assignment to draw one of the new cash shop shopkeepers. It's only up for the month of October, but it made me so excited to see something "lasting" up on the site. Copyrite Neopets 2007, of course.)

More Squid

Our good friend Steph is having a little baby boy, and instead of wanting me to buy her diapers for her baby shower, she wanted a monster for her nursery. :)

Channel FREDERATOR!!!

OMFG!!! I'm so super excited!

So a couple weeks ago I e-mailed my friend Jeaux and asked him what kinda hoops I have to jump through to submit my student film on Channel Frederator.

Well, long story short, I did and it's up!!!!

In case you were wondering, it's the second film. After the decapitated head film.

Oh, and they also INTERVIEWED me too!!!!

Bugs, Kitties and Squid. . . OH MY!

Sorry. . . I couldn't resist that.

Anyway, I've been trying to doodle at home more. Figured it would help with the increasing frequency of my "work A.D.D." spells. It's not really helping with that, but at least I'm getting to draw on paper. That always makes me happy.

Incognito

Saturday, August 11th, 2007, out at Gallery Nucleus is the opening evening for the "Ninja Show"

My boyfriend and I just finished our second custom guitar, which will be making it's debut that night. We're really excited to have the opportunity to have our "little projects together" get such a great opportunity to be viewed by, what's undeniably going to be a LOT of people.

Finally felt comfortable showing a little bit of the new guitar.

Just something I did for work. I love drawing baby kitties. :D

The Creature From the Pink Lagoon

One of my all time favorite old school movie monsters was the Creature from the Black Lagoon. I just thought he was really cool looking. When I was a kid, I was a total water baby and one of my favorite games was to sneak up on people underwater like a little monster. . .

I've been toying with the idea of a female "creature" for few years now, but I've never been able to get her out on paper. I think I got lucky last night. ;)

Caterpillar Roll

So, yet another year in my life has passed and through out the course of this year I have learned a few important things. The most important one being NEVER, EVER feed a 14-year-old female a ton of sugar followed by a frappachino from Starbucks. It spells disaster.

A Caterpillar Roll of Doom for your viewing pleasure. Potato Farm Girl took me out to a sushi dinner for my B-day. Enough said.

Now off to enjoy the bestest b-day gift (for me) EVER!! 18 hours of CSI viewing goodness, here I come!!

Devil's Food Cake

Okay so here's my final piece for Gallery Nucleus' Power in Numbers 2 Show. It was a semi-last-minute decision to do this one, only because when I sat down to do the icecream cone I was having an internal battle. I named all three of these pieces very Lame-ly, so to keep in theme, he got the oh so very original name of "Devil's Food Cake". Unfortunately it was so "last minute" that he didn't get finished until Potato Farm Girl came to do me the HUGE favor of picking up and dropping off my pieces at the Gallery (at which point she also named him, her idea was WAY better than mine). So I had to take a crappy picture of it. I know I'll get to scan the little bugger when the show comes down in a month, so I promise a better pic then (on my website).

Things are in the hands of time and fate right now in my normal, hectic everyday life, but here's a couple pics of life from some of the enjoyable, laid back moments. :)

Carlos and I were lucky enough to spend Easter with My Uncle Ed and Lori. We had tons of fun and we got to hang out with Bambi the baby donkey. I guess she's not really much of a baby anymore, but she LOVES Converse sneakers. :)

That would also be my nifty hair cut in all of it's wind blown glory. . . I kinda had an accident with a pair of scissors on Valentine's Day. . . 3 years of hair growth down the drain, but boy does my head feel lighter! (And YES Dad, that's my real hair color. . . but mark my words, it will be purple again soon! As soon as the bathroom recovers from the last time I died it, that is.)

Izzo has found a new spot to sleep. . . it's not very sanitary and it's really BAD, BUT when you're small enough to sleep in a frying pan. . .does the word CUTE come to mind to anyone else?

Rainbow Sprinkles

Well, I miraclously pulled this off. My second piece for the "Power in Numbers 2" show over at Gallery Nucleus next month.

I've been obsessed with the idea of sprinkles lately. I guess it's just an extension of my previous candy monsters. . . only I guess the evil sprinkles turn what ever they decorate into evil little tasty morsels.

Thought it might be fun to show these. . . I forced myself to choose between the icecream cone or the piece of layer cake. . . obviously the icecream one. I personally love the sketch more. I always seem to loose a little life when I try to recreate them. :(

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well, things have been pretty damn crazy here in Booger-land. Good news is that I FINALLY have my first day off in 3 weeks and the project at work is in Beta Testing right now and should be up for all of Neopia to enjoy on the 18th.

But since I don't like talkin' about work much on my bloggy blog, and lovely Viacom security rules prevent me from telling too many goodies to psycho Neopets fans, I'll move on to personal work.

Tonight, actually, I'll have a painting in ISM Magazine's April Gallery show "Friends of ISM" down in Costa Mesa, CA. I'm really excited to have the opportunity to be in another show, and even more excited to be in my first show out side of Gallery Nucleus.

With work being as crazy as it has been recently, and not recieving the invite into the ISM show until a week before the show deadline, I had to submit and older piece. But both the piece and I are very happy to have it be seen outside of my kitchen. :D

In case you're wondering, it's name is ultra super complex. . . "Gummies" and it's 12" x 12" streched canvas with acrylic. So if you can make it down to the OC, or ya live in the OC and you're very, very bored, you can come check out my painting.

Finally, I'm overjoyed to post this little ditty.

About two weeks ago we finally got "Two-Dee Fruity" put together and stringed. I don't think Carlos bothered to tune it, but just having it back together and having the first complete "Purplehearts" guitar made is very exciting. We've already got the next two planned and now that work's slowing down I can get back to having fun with the guitars.

Not What I'm SUPPOSED to be Doing

Ya ever notice how when you're supposed to be working on something every FREAKIN' idea you have does not have anything to do with what you're supposed to be doing?

Right now I'm supposed to be working on my "Power in Numbers 2" piece but I keep finding myself completely and utterly distracted by bunnies. . .

Yes Bunny Rabbits. . . I blame Easter and the card companies turning the "celebration of Jesus dying for our sins" into a day where the cutest God Damn bunnies on the planet hop around everywhere. . .too cute in fact. . . hence the reason I've been distracted by making them EVIL.

Okay, maybe not evil. . . but definately in not very friendly surroundings.

Both of these are obvously unfinished, and hopefully will remain that way until AFTER I finish what I'm supposed to be doing. . . like a good little girl.

Two-dee Fruity (part 1, sorta)

Well, as you can see from the last two previous posts, I've been workin' on this for a while.

My boyfriend and I started talking about something we could do together. Call it bonding time, call it a melding of the minds, call it whatever you like, but we decided it would be fun to make custom guitars.

My boyfriend is a really talented guitar player and is constantly obsessing about getting new ones and customizing his old ones. So, partially to appease him and partially because it sounded like a really fun idea, the two of us decided that he'd do all the hardware work and "prepping of the surfaces" and I'd just "do my thing".

Obviously, this is our first one, and due to our total lack of originality, we decided we should call this one "Two-dee Fruity" (partially because she's a "fruits" girl and partially because my boyfriend said that it should be in honor of the fact that she's a "2-D" design, we're nerds).

Stay tuned for "Two-dee Fruity (part 2)" where I actually post the guitar all put back together again. :D
