Is It Friday Yet?

So, here I am at work. One hour and 10 minutes left to my Thursday afternoon, and all I'm thinkin' is "Is it Friday yet?" I'm seriously goin' bonkers here at work. I've completed all my weeks assignments, I even slacked off to gaurentee I had SOMETHING to do today, but alas, now I've reached the point of complete and total boredom. One o'clock tomorrow afternoon can not get here soon enough. Then I will chill and paint to my hearts content.

A Little Early. . . but What the Hell.

So today was one of those blissfully slow days at work, or annoyingly slow, I guess it depends on my mood.

Anyway, I was in such a fury yesterday at work that I managed to get ALL my assignments for the next couple days done with an hour to spare (which I chose to burn by going home and getting some sleep). So today I've kinda been jumping back and forth between finishing up loose ends on my assignments from yesterday, tweeking more website pages (the hidden student film section now matches the rest of the site), and making a little greeting for all my little MySpace friends (which just happen to actually be real people that I know and have been friends with for a while). But I don't want you all to feel left out either, so here ya go, a little early but. . .

This one's T.E.D.'s.

Oooo, So Excited!!!

So on my way home I was plotting this really long bitchy entry on how much I hate chauvenistic men, because yesterday (Wednesday) I had to deal with the most obnoxious one ever. . . but right as I got on the computer to start my entry I decided to check and see if the Power In Numbers show had been posted on line yet. . . and it was.

AND. . .

I SOLD MY FIRST PAINTING!!! (To someone other than a family member.)

I'm so excited! I mean, this is officially the first painting I've ever sold and although part of me is sad that it won't be returning home, pretty much all of me is so excited I can't think strait right now. I mean, it's my first gallery piece to have sold!!!

I'm way too excited right now. I mean, who wants to hear about stupid boys thinking I don't know how to design a website because I'm a girl when I've got something this AWESOME to think about!!!

I wonder who bought it? I wonder if they are going to like it as much as I'm gonna miss it?

SO EXCITED!!!

California Adventure for my Birthday

So for my birthday we wound up going to California Adventure instead of Disneyland because EVERY HIGHSCHOOL IN AMERICA decided today was the ideal day to go on end of the year field trips. I only felt the need to commit homicide to a group of 8 teenagers once when their group "magically" went from a group of 6 to a group of 8 when the stupid horny guy workin' the line let them cut in front of us after we had been waiting for 40 minutes.

Other than that, it was fun.

I Have Infiltrated Gallery Nucleus' Defenses!!

Okay, so my plan to crash Gallery Nucleus' most recent gallery exhibition (opening next Saturday) has been sucessful!! They accepted my piece "Icecream" and the best part is that if the piece sells my proceeds will go to the Hurricane Relief effort, which I've been desperately wanting to donate money too ever since Hurricane Katrina happened. So I'm pretty excited. I haven't had any work shown since last November after my parent's visited. I think the pieces are available for purchase online and if you wanna find out more about the show, go visit their blog by clickin' here.

Icecream Anyone?

Well, for my Aunt, I have posted my finished painting.

I stayed up really late last night, having been extremely inspired by Pixar's Cars. I think it was worth it though. Now if I can just sweet talk my way in. :)

Sadly after all the hard work I did, the really cool frame wound up being too small for the piece so I had to come up with a rather inventive, cheap solution. Ikea and foamcore work wonders. :D

So once a year or so I see a movie that totally blows me away and I force all my friends and family to go see it. Last year it was Tim Burton's version of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", this year I insist upon pushing "Cars". Go see it. The Pixar guys are genius. You won't be disappointed, and if for some reason you are disappointed with the story, just geek out on how they've advanced in computer animation techniques. SOOOOO amazing.

My work took us to see it yesterday, but I'm going to go make Carlos go see it tomorrow. It's well worth the money.

Crashin' the Party

So it's been a week or so again and the news is, I'm finding my focus that I've so been longing to find for over a year now.

I've decided to "crash" a gallery opening that I wasn't invited too. That is, if I can finish the piece in time. (Just a tiny back story; the gallery show is a hurricane relief benefit show and the pieces are only on display until someone buys them. Basically if you buy it you yank it off the wall and go pay for it right then and there. So you'd think that the more pieces they could get to raise money they would appreciate. So when I go with my friend that's in the show to drop her pieces off tomorrow night I'm gonna sweet talk my way in. >:P I'm such a little devil.)

So to fulfill a promise to my dear, sweet, kind, and gracious Aunt, I've posted the progression. First is the concept; then the quick color tests in flash; and then the current phase of the painting. It's really small, only about 4" x 6".

A happy little accident kinda happened when I went in to paint the skin last night, as you can see from above. I wanted a white skin tone with a greenish tinted shadow, but I think the aqua/teal color I got instead will work much better. I've been wanting to go back to my "dark/cute" ways but lacking inspiration and it appears that this happy little accident turned me in the right direction.

Speaking of inspiration. . .my inspiration! KITTY!!!

You shall all love the Kitty Princess of DOOM or she will eat your souls with her cuteness!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!

Don't Give a Vain Person a Camera

So, I kinda have a nickname for my boyfriend. There's many actually, but one that I use quite often is "little birdy". Mainly because some birds like to look at themselves in mirrors. And the same can be said for my boyfriend. He LOVES lookin' at himself. I'm honestly not quite sure if it's because he thinks he's cute or if it's because he is paranoid about how he looks but he really loves lookin' at himself.

Now don't get me wrong I'm not complainin', but I'm beginning to think my digital camera birthday present was more for him that it was for me. But like I said, I'm not complainin' cause I still got a digital camera out of the whole experience, so I'm just gonna rock on with my bad self.

Anyway, yeah.

He's been havin' me play photographer for him lately, as I said in the previous post, but now we've come to the agreement that we only put up "cool" pics of him on myspace. Cool in two senses of the word. . . #1) cool as in I don't think he's tryin' to pick up chicks with the photo, and cool #2) as in it's an artistically nice composition with some sort of flair to it. I mean after all if I'm stuck takin' the million pics of him, I at least wanna make them interesting to do so that I enjoy it.

But obviously these are not the artistically cool photos. . . these are just the fun snap shots we've been takin' around the house. Top is showin' the kitty some love (I think she must hate the camera by now), second was the boyfriend messin' around with the camera while we were layin' around bein' vegatables (when we should have been cleaning), third is kitty sleepin' in the guitar case (one of about 10 of her favorite spots), then there's random pics of the living room now (since the uncle thinks our "collection" is a little out of control) and finally is one of the artsier photo's I took for the boyfriend.

Have fun with photo overload.
